Ah, Friends. The 90’s sitcom that has taken the world by storm. Even though this show is “technically” before my time, I have never related to a group of fictional characters so much in my entire 22 years of life. I can shamelessly admit that I’ve seen each episode at least 15 times and I still laugh as hard as I did the first time around. While this dream team is literal goals, there is one character in particular that never fails to rule the set. Pheobe Buffay (my girl, Lisa Kudrow) is not only a QUEEN, but someone that effortlessly demonstrates loyalty, quirkiness, and strength. All of those qualities, and her guitar expertise, are why her character plays such a monumental role in the series. She’s definitely my favorite, but I’m still a firm believer that everyone out there needs a figure like her.

So, here are a few reasons why YOU need a Phoebe Buffay in your life.

She could LITERALLY not care less about what other people think of her.

Phoebe is one of the most care-free people out there. Personally, I think that is one of the greatest qualities someone can have. She’s not afraid to cut loose, make a fool of herself, and embrace her inner 5 year-old. (I mean, have you seen her run through Central Park?) She shows us that quirky is cool and life is more fun when you’re not afraid to laugh at yourself. So, moral of the story, stop caring about what other people think. You. Do. You.

She is always down for an adventure.

I think we can all agree that life would be pretty boring without some risks. Whether it’s taking a cross-country ride in her grandmother’s taxi or willingly giving birth to her brother’s triplets, Phoebe doesn’t shy away from her wild side. While she’s logistical when she knows she needs to be, Phoebe will usually be the first one to jump on board when any and every opportunity presents itself. She just asks one favor… don’t mention ANYTHING about London.

She is not afraid to tell you how it is.

Phoebe is someone that doesn’t sugarcoat, plain and simple. Though she will do everything in her power to reassure and encourage you in all of your life’s endeavors, at the end of the day, she will tell you her honest opinion. But, no matter how brutal it may seem, it comes from a genuine place of love. So, if she doesn’t think he’s your lobster, she’ll be the first to let you know.

At the end of the day, she is one of the most loyal people you’ll ever meet.

Phoebe is a lot of things… there’s certainly no doubt about that. But, her loyalty to the people she cares about speaks volumes. She’s not afraid to stand up for herself or anyone else that may be struggling. She will poke fun all day every day, but as soon as she sees a friend in need of some cheering up, she will be listening with an open ear, mind, and heart.

Phoebe is quite literally the entire package. She will your best friend, one of your hardest critics, and most likely the one sitting next to you ready to plan your next adventure.

So, if you’re lucky enough to find yourself a Phoebe Buffay, please, don’t let her go.
